A blue-faced honeyeater chick perches in a flowering gum tree, waiting for the rain to stop in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia.

This is a reworking of an old encaustic original, enhanced by adding additional detail to the chick, a branch of gum leaves and flowers, and subtle rain drops, created using translucent encaustic medium. The effect is dreamy and soft, like gentle rain.

This piece does not need to be framed - in fact, the unique encaustic edges are a special feature of the work. The back of the panel is prepared with picture hardware, ready to hang.
