This little fairy wren is a rescue - well, in the sense that it’s a cold wax piece that I had abandoned because it didn’t quite work. I picked it back up because I try to make my art sustainable, and tried to do something else with it. I used hot wax to resurface it, and then built numerous materials in between about 50 hot wax layers. I buffed and polished it several times during the layering process, so the finished piece shines like glass. I really like the effect, so this piece has now been promoted from the abandoned pile to my latest exhibition collection, Last Light.
