I photographed this azure kingfisher at the edge of the Clarence River early one evening, as a pink moon rose behind him. He was just a chick - he still had his downy feathers and his adult plumage hadn't fully developed. It was such a tranquil and beautiful scene. I sat and watched him until the light disappeared.

Back in my studio, I decided to transform this little chick into a cold wax original artwork, building layers of cold wax and oil and then scraping and carving into them to create texture and depth.

The finished piece is archival quality. It's created on cradled birch panel and does not need to be framed (please see additional photos). The back is prepped with picture hardware, ready to hang.
