‘The Rescue’ is an original encaustic artwork by Australia-based wildlife artist, Tanya Ogilvie-White. It depicts a koala joey and her mother, just moments before they were rescued from the devastating Australian bushfires of 2019-2020. It’s part of a series of artworks the artist has created to draw international attention to the plight of the northern koala, numbers of which are rapidly dwindling. Urgent action is needed to conserve this precious animal to prevent its extinction.
