This is one of my favorite scenes: a Pacific duck, paddling across the mighty Clarence River (in Northern New South Wales, Australia), as the sun dips below the horizon. I love the calm, meditative atmosphere, which is created by the placement of the subject at the edge of the panel, and the simplicity of duck's wake trailing behind.

I create my original artworks by burning layer upon layer of beeswax and resin into wooden panels, embedding oils, inks and pastels between the layers. I use 50-60 layers of wax in each piece, which gives them great depth and texture and an ethereal quality that is impossible to replicate in any other medium.

This is one of the last remaining pieces of my "Out on the Edge" series, which has found homes in collections all over the world. It's museum grade, prepped with picture hardware, and ready to hang.
