The Gentle Landing is part of my new Dreamscapes series, which combines hot and cold wax with gold leaf and other materials to create a gilded, dream-like landscape that has a vintage feel and a gem-like quality. The surface is created by burning the materials into a wooden base, and fusing layer upon layer of hardened beeswax into the substrate with a live flame.

In this piece, which is inspired by a series of fine art photographs I took after my home town flooded in February 2022, a tiny finch lands on sunlit grasses beside the Brunswick River. The water in the background reflects the colours of the rainbow that are lighting up a still-stormy sky as the sun streams down from a gap in the clouds. It's a reminder of the exquisite beauty that surrounds us, even in troubled times.

This piece is prepped with picture hardware and ready to hang. It is archival quality (the beeswax is hardened and cured and can withstand extremes of temperature).

My Dreamscapes series is proving popular even before its official launch, inspiring commissions from collectors in Australia and internationally.
