‘The Dragonfly’ is a one-off original artwork by encaustic artist Tanya Ogilvie-White. It is part of the Dreamscapes Series, inspired by the Brunswick River, which joins the Pacific Ocean in the beautiful Australian town of Brunswick Heads. In this triptych, the setting sun lights up the wings of a solitary dragonfly, which is hovering among the wild grasses on the riverbank.

‘The Dragonfly’ panels are designed to hang close together on the wall, and to bring the outdoors indoors to create a sense of meditative calm. The creative process is responsible for the dreamy atmosphere, which is achieved by burning layer upon layer of hardened beeswax and raw pigments into the panels until they acquire a 3D effect. The finished piece is fully cured, prepped with picture hardware, and does not need to be framed.
