When I first arrived in Australia, I fell in love with the gum trees. I was captivated by the sight of the leaves glowing in the evening light, as the sun sinks down behind them. Cold wax medium captures this perfectly - it makes colors pop and textures glow.

This piece is one of two title pieces for my Last Light Series. The series mixes hot and cold wax to create a unique surface that combines the ethereal qualities of hot wax (encaustic) with the vibrant colors of cold wax and oil.

This archival piece is prepped with picture hardware and framed in Tasmanian oak.
