In the Fairy Paddock II (SOLD)

A$1,900.00

This fairy wren was one of many tiny birds that appeared in a paddock near Toowoomba while I was out with my camera one evening. They danced around, flitting between the fence wires and the wild grasses beyond. I loved the direct gaze of this little chick, amid the softening lines of the wild grasses, which gradually vanished as night set in.

I created this original artwork by burning layers of beeswax, resin, and raw pigments into my wood-mounted enlarged photograph, which I etched and inked between the fused layers of wax to create depth and definition. The finished result has an ethereal, gemlike quality, which helps recreate the original moment of magic in that dreamy paddock in Eastern Australia.
