This original artwork is the first of three archival pelican paintings that I've created on wooden panels.

It's inspired by the pelicans that glide around in a little inlet near where I live in coastal Australia, which is only accessible by walking through a rainforest. It's a pristine little beach, where the wildlife thrives, undisturbed by boats and humans. I love watching the pelicans on misty and cloudy days, when the sea and sky blend into a thousand soft shades of white, and the pelicans drift dreamily across the surface.

'In the Clouds III' is created by layering beeswax and oils onto wooden boards and then craving into the surface. I love the rough texture that the wax creates as it hardens. It gives the piece a vintage feel and an ethereal quality that is impossible to replicate in other mediums.

The wax used in this artwork is hardened and cured and can withstand extremes of temperatures. It's prepped with picture hardware, ready to hang, and does not need to be framed.
