“Flutter” SOLD
“Flutter” is the first piece from my new series of hot wax encaustics, which I’ve called “Dreamscapes”. It's inspired by the village Brunswick Heads near Byron Bay, Australia’s most easterly point. The Brunswick River runs through the village, and at sunset it lights up in soft hues of lilac, peach and gold. I love photographing the birds flitting through the changing light, and then wander back to my studio, where I preserve the moment forever in layers of beeswax, raw pigment and India ink.
The scene in “Flutter” shows a white faced honeyeater chick, fluttering up from the wild grasses at the river’s edge, just as the sun disappears behind the hills.
This piece is an archival quality encaustic original. It is prepped with picture hardware, ready to hang, and does not need to be framed. The burnished edges are part of the artistic process, and add to the ethereal, vintage feel of the piece.
My encaustic originals are in collections all around the world, and are available to be shipped.
