Bee-eaters in the Bush (Triptych)

A$3,800.00

Australia has some of the most beautiful birds in the world - bright, colorful and diverse. Our bee-eaters are small but spectacular - they swoop through the air, catching bees on the wing.

I photographed these bee-eaters doing just that in the Australian bush, and used it as inspiration for this triptych. I combined cold wax with oil and built up layers of contrasting colors, carving into them to create depth and texture. I included both abstract and realist features, which add to the impression of movement.

'Bee-eaters in the Bush' is part of my unique Last Light Series, which celebrates the ethereal qualities of encaustic (hot wax) and the vibrant colors of cold wax and oil.

This archival piece does not need to be framed (each panel is prepped with picture hardware, ready to hang).
